We have booked a trip with "Beyond Travel" (Australia) titled "Best of Croatia " leaving Dubrovnik in September 2012 for 11 nights, finishing in Zagreb. We have booked 2 cabins on the Main/Upper deck.Hi, first time visiting Croatia. Staying a couple of days in Dubrovknik and then 5 days in Korcula. Our transfer options are private car (Land Rover) arrange by the hotel in Korcula or the catamaran. Seems like it will take a couple of hours either way.Need some advice on planning a trip for four twenty-something girls around Croatia in 2 weeks or under in August. We need to do this on a budget so any advice on where to stay, what to see, what to miss and how to travel cheaply would be greatly appreciated as it is our first time heading to Croatia. There are complaints about some places being overcrowded in July ( Dubrovnik, for instance, or Plitvice lakes), other complain because of long queues for the ferries to islands, crowds at the airports, hot weather, mosquitos - people complain for all possible reasons.

You need to stay on the island. Mljet is the most scenic island in Croatia IMO. Depending on your interests, you could stay there for a few nights. Mljet lacks charming old towns, but makes up with nature. Third of the island is a NP. Then you could stay on Korcula for a few nights ... Adriatic Travel has the best rates of anyone by far. You can eat for as little as 10 euros for pasta, pizza, risotto, spit grills but can splurge if you wish.Hard to give specific recommendations based on liking history alone as there are lots of options, Split is probably the easiest base as it is the hub for the southern Islands.
