469 posts · Joined 2007. #10 · Apr 7, 2010. I normally torque wheels around 90-100ft lbs. The rated 76 or 80 is when the wheel lugs/studs are new and threads not stretched. Everywhere you go everyone is going to take off/put on wheels with air guns. Air guns are capable of doing 500ft lbs or more.My previous mid size GM truck required 120lb/ft. If your wife's F150 has different wheels, then it is possible, however all the aluminum Ford wheels with the OEM and/or OEM replacement lug nuts they will take the 150lb/ft.
