With the exception of the Kimber Camp Guard in 10mm, I have had no issues with any Kimber 1911-based pistol that I have (9mm and .45ACP), the quality is excellent, the caliber correct, and the Kimber Custom II has two features that I liked over the Springfield Armory Ronin, 3-dot sights and a metal trigger. I’ll get to those later. I've had a Kimber Stainless Target II for about 15 years, and the only problems I've ever had were from weak (under 1100fps) 10mm loads. They don't always fully cycle the slide, and tend to fail to feed. With the handloads I make and the older, more powerful Winchester Silvertips (1275+ fps iirc), I've never had an issue.I have a Custom II in 10mm. ... Have about 500-600 rounds through it, never a problem. I had a Kimber Custom TLE/RL 10mm. Like the other Kimbers that I had, they were all decent 1911's. They are definitely better, out of the box, than any Colt Govt, Combat Commander, and Delta Elite 1911's that I have ever owned. But, there certainly are better 1911's than Colt or Kimber.

It's a 1911. All the controls are in the right places, the grip fills the hand nicely and the little touches like an adjustable rear sight, beaver tail grip safety and super-smooth trigger elevate this gun from standard to exquisite. And then there is the idea of shooting it. Some people don't like the 10mm. I'm not one of them.

Jun 4, 2011 · The Kimber’s extra weight (38 ounces) and slimmer shape made it easier for me to control on the range than the Smith & Wesson M&P Pro 9 (26 ounces). Again, recoil has always been my largest complaint with polymer-frame pistols. Their lack of mass and higher center of gravity creates a lot of upward force when shooting.

Just got back to the office from the range. Finally shot my new Eclipse Custom II 10mm for the first time. Shot 100 rounds with no problems. Wow was it fun! Its as smooth as can be. That 10mm has some giddy up to it. I love the round. The gun performed as good as it looks. Its a real joy...

Try the magazines that came with the gun first, then buy more if they work for you.
