Your steward adds furniture over time. It absolutely takes longer than 24 hours to become fully furnished. I'm not sure how long it takes, but for me, it was at least two weeks. I would recommend building the furniture you need the most yourself, then letting your steward take care of the rest; it's cheaper that way.Try getting them to follow again, and draw your weapon.
