GM trucks still used flat-tappet cams stock through '91, so your listed Edelbrock PN 7102 hydraulic flat-tappet cam should work in the '87 Suburban small-block. Remove the gas cap to relieve pressure. Disconnect fuel line and plug the line. Replace gas cap. Disconnect all linkage from carburetor such as throttle, throttle springs, transmission, cruise control and automatic choke. Tag and remove coil wires and sensor wires. Tag and remove vacuum lines. Remove valve covers.
