The Shard Dragon regenerates its armor and health immediately after taking damage. Effectively making it invincible. I attacked with with 10K station, and 20K fleets and did no damage at all. This really sucks when you play on Iron Man Steps to reproduce the issue. Attack the shard dragon when it spawns with 10k station Upload Attachment

Shard is an Acrel spawn and his ability to torch the planet is pretty new. Usually to do that digsite in the future, wait before excavating the last part. Set your fleet into the system and give him the middle finger. Shard needs a year to sterilize that planet, so it leaves you time to go at him once. I recently watched an Awakened Empire fleet take on a big mob of the Unbidden. It looked great with the the camera mod I use (I think it's just called Cinematic Camera) panning the view left to right + 10x System Scale/Downsized Ships which together actually make things feel big and "space-y". Triggering the dragon early has its benefits, a few saves ago i had two systems bordering a hostile alien empire, one of them being the Rubicator system - It would have been really expensive to fortify both so i just triggered Shard to appear and take care of blocking one of them off for me.

I had the system this thing spawns from spawn right next to my home system. I didn't know what it was and researched everything right away.
