Duramax ticking noise.

Ticking noise when accelerating. The new to me Duramax has a ticking noise going on as soon as you step on the gas. It is present from around 1000rpms to 2700 rpms. If I´m flooring it it goes away and it goes away as soon as I let of the pedal.. From what I understand it is the injection pump making noise, the new engines are so quiet that it is more audible but all duramaxes do it and is normal, never noticed on the LMM but very noticeable on the L5P. Can hear it easily when standing outside front or when listening near front wheel wells and from inside the truck. This is my 4th Duramax so I am familiar with all the ticking noise complaints but this is not a tick.

Some people do find different brand oil seems to quieten the noise some but experimentation is key for some because not all oils act the same in all engines..

No its not hurting it. You can try & find another oil brand thatll maybe reduce the tick noise, or you just live with it. I use Rotella T in my LMM & Mobil Delvac Super in the LML.
