It originally appeared in the June 1941 issue of American Collector magazine, a publication which ran from 1933-1948 and served antique collectors and dealers. Founded in1872, it is located in Potschappel, a suburb of the town of Freital in the Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge district about 8 km (5 mi) southwest of Dresden, the capital of Saxony.
