Loosen the triple clamp bolts. Pull the fork legs out (one at the time). Mark them left and right. Pull the top fork plugs off. Drain the oil. Flush 3 times with AFT - drain well between flushes - especially the last one.

VTX's Do require a higher idle than a HD. You don't want an X to sound like a HD. J.Next time you change the oil and it has been refilled with 4 qts ( 3.9 for the anals), with the bike on the side stand, pull the stick and mark the true full point with a file.
