Personally I find the Kimber a tad too much to carry and a bit finicky as many 1911's tend to be. On the other hand reliability of the P938 is questionable. The primary thing I think was they reduced the amount of the carry melt treatment a little. The basic difference between Series II and pre-series II (like yours) is the Series II guns have a Swartz firing pin safety.So perhaps the weight savings. And I think the CDP has the Kimber melt/carry treatment on the slide/frame to take off the sharp edges. The CDP's are good lookin pistols! If you are not unconscious, then you have quit. Both have aluminum frames. The CDP II has night sights, carry melt, and a checked frontstrap.

Sent it to the Mothership for a complete rebuild, including a slide refinish. Cost for the refinish: $110 for what now looks to be a brand new slide.
