Good News....the original brake valve was rebuildable. It solved the entire problem and it stops great. No more wheel lock up. The JD 4020 is now ready to go back to work.

Loosen one bolt at a time in sequence pattern and re-tighten it. You will. see they will turn down another 1/8 to 1/4 turn depending on length of bolt. The old replacement.

Owner replaced generator with alternator because the 4020 is indeed a hoss. Designed to run on row crops all day at full speed. Off and on hay use would not keep the batteries charged. Sounds like the battery is hooked up correctly. Now to wire gauge the positve goes to ground on the tractor. The negative should go to the wire that is connected to ignition switch.
