I recently compared the Gen 4 G30, a G30 SF, and a G30s all side by side. All were new in the box, were blue labels and were priced exactly the same.

This allowed those that liked the heft of the 30, but with smaller hands, to have the ability to get a better grip and trigger reach. The 30S is a 36 slide on the SF frame. It is lighter than the 30/30SF so you can carry it easier but you may feel more recoil due to the lighter slide. The recoil is manageable.

SF stood for short frame...meaning shorter trigger reach. It is my understanding that the Gen 4 models without any backstrap installed has the same reach as the SF frames. I like the 30s and find it to be a great carry gun.

If you have large hands, I use the 10 round mags for pinky support. As someone else said, the 30S has a short frame although I never noticed the difference.

t4terrific. If you carry IWB, the 30 is doable, but not as comfortable as the 27. The 30s would be a little more comfortable to carry, but not as comfortable to shoot. There is no really clear answer when it comes to carry pistols. Everything has trade-offs. when it comes to carry pistols.
